Human Development has traditionally been thought of as the chronological processes and changes within an individual beginning with fertilization of the egg going through to adulthood. This course takes a different perspective. Here we view Human Development through a dual lens—that of individual human development and the development of humans as social creatures. There are two major themes for the course:
1. Human Development is multidimensional, lifelong process.
2. Human Development cannot be understood without understanding the context in which it occurs.
